Lisette Melendez was born in East Harlem, New York to Puerto Rican parents that played a variety of music at home which helped cement her love of music. However the shy young Lisette dreamed about the spotlight but never thought she’d stand a chance. But in the summer of 1985 she watched a Music Video of a young Artist called “Lisa Lisa” and she was not only inspired but determined to follow in her footsteps. The song was “Together Forever” Although we loved the song.. apparently the Record Labels did not, it was too different and Freestyle music was on its way out. Thanks to Fever/ Columbia the record was released and through promotion and Radio requests people wanted to know about the girl who sang it, and because of this Freestyle was alive again. An album was requested, and the second was “ A Day In My Life”(Without you) and went on to win numerous awards like Best New Dance Artist at the NY Music Awards, ect.... Lisette Melendez started her own Record Label called “Lady Bug Record
