Splice has announced a new app called CoSo (short for Compatible Sounds) which uses AI to quickly identify sounds that work together using Splice’s library of samples. The app features layers of loops from beats, basslines, FX, leads, vocals, pads, etc, and users can swipe to the right to quickly change the sound, which uses AI to scan millions of sounds from the Splice catalogue, regardless of key or bpm.
To start, users select a style or genre from the list, including Vintage Cassette, Slot Machine, Chill, Disco/Funk, Dance and more. Once your loop has started, you can swipe to change each individual layer, or add more up to eight in total. CoSo quickly pitch shifts and time stretches the most compatible sound so you can continue to work on your idea without searching for or auditioning samples.
Once you’re done making your loop, you can either post it to TikTok or open each individual sound on Splice to download it to your DAW. Soon it’ll be possible to export the loop directly to Ableton Live and other DAWs.
