Roland has launched its new SPD-SX PRO sampling pad, which uses the brand's latest sensing technology and claims to "raise the bar" following its previously released SPD-S and SPD-SX models.

This new upgrade features nine pads separated by customisable trigger LEDs, which can be individually colour-coded, as well as 32GB of internal memory, and includes 1550 pre-loaded sounds, with more available via Roland’s Cloud platform.

What's more, the SPD-SX PRO App from Roland Cloud makes it easy to import, edit, and organise sounds on a Mac or Windows computer via USB. The USB connection also supports DAW music production with the ability to transfer MIDI data and up to eight channels of high-quality digital audio.

The Roland SPD-SX PRO will be available in the US next month for $1,199.99. Find out more here and watch a demo video below.

In other Roland news, the iconic instrument maker recently opened a new store and showroom in central London. Located on Soho's historic Denmark Street, the Roland London Store is part of Outernet London, an immersive media, music, and culture hub at The Now Building.

Earlier this year, Roland also announced the launch of its JUPITER-4 software synthesiser, an "authentic recreation" of the classic JUPITER-4 — the company's first-ever polyphonic synth and the first to bear the JUPITER name — first launched in 1978 and used by the likes of Duran Duran and The Human League.
